KUALA TERENGGANU: A former Universiti Teknologi Mara (Chendering branch) student was sentenced to a year’s jail and fined RM7,000 for dumping her baby.

Zarina Sulaiman, 22, had pleaded guilty to the offence when she was charged on April 13.

According to facts of the case, Zarina concealed the birth of her baby girl and disposed the infant who had died either before, during or after birth.

Zarina, who holds a diploma in science, committed the offence at the Sutera Hostel of the university in Kubang Ikan, near here, between 11pm and midnight on Jan 29, 2008
